I don’t have the time nor the skillset to run an author resource Patreon, but there are some tricks I’ve figured out from my experience publishing and my years as a blogger. First on the list is Later!
This is a scheduling app that lets you plan your social media posts. But the neat thing is you can set it to “Send Notification”, so to the world and the algorithms, it’ll look like a manual post and you can fine tune things at the last minute like adding trending sound or setting your cover. The free plan is a little limited, but it’s a nice way to give yourself a break from having to plan your posts every single day.
Later works with Facebook, though it only does Facebook Reels on a paid plan, Instagram, Threads, Pinterest, Snapchat, YouTube Shorts, Linked In, the social media formerly known as Twitter, and Tik Tok. Now I don’t use half of these, I haven’t had Snapchat since like 2018, but it’s nice to know it is an option.
The only drawback is your post MUST have a piece of media attached to it. A photo or a video. So, no text posts for this one. You also have to be sure you’re on the right profile before you open up the app so you don’t accidentally post your marketing reels to your personal Instagram instead of your professional one. You also must have a business Instagram, which means having a Facebook page, in order to access Later. But frankly, you probably already have one if you’re reading about social media scheduling.
Another neat feature is you can save your captions in advance, so you can add all your hashtags automatically instead of having to type them or even copy and paste. I have them saved by book, along with lists of tropes.
If you use my referral link to join Later, and schedule your first post to Instagram, I get bonus posts per month added to my account. However, I wouldn’t have been using this software since 2018 if I didn’t think it was super useful, and I stand by it even now.
