How to Turn Any Kindle Book Into an Audiobook

There are a lot of people who prefer listening to audiobooks than sitting down to read a traditional book. I’m not one of them, but that’s okay. The only time I use audiobooks is on a road trips when I need long term entertainment, although I usually listen to books I’ve already read once so I can focus on the road. (Drove through a blinding rain storm once while listening to Jurassic Park. It was the t-rex scene. That was TERRIFYING, let me tell you.)

However, there have been times I wished I had an audio version for a book I was really into but had to stop reading. Like when I need to get cleaning done before we have dinner guests, but oh, just one more chapter! I’m not going to shell out for an audiobook that I’m only going to listen to for a couple chapters. Plus, what if there is no audiobook for what I’m reading? They’re expensive to produce. I already have my narrators picked out for Hurricane Ryan but I’m going to have to sell a lot more books before that dream becomes a reality.

So, what do you do?

It’s actually super simple and works for any book you have on Kindle, whether it’s something you own outright, have borrowed from a digital library, or is on Kindle Unlimited. Download the book to the Kindle app on your smart phone, and then download the Alexa app.

Alexa App Highlighted on a Phoone

What’s cool is this is actually an accessibility feature, but it works for everyone. Open the Alexa app, log into the same Amazon account you use for Kindle, and hit the “Play” button.

Now you scroll until you find the Kindle section. Depending on what all you have in your Amazon account, it might take a moment.

Then hit whatever book you want Alexa to read outloud for you. It’s not as good as an actual audiobook. There’s no voice acting or emotion, its a straight robotic reading, but it gets the job done.

Enjoy!

eReaderIQ

I find 90% of the books I read on Kindle Unlimited. It’s not that I don’t want to buy books, but I’m a girl on a budget and I don’t have a lot of storage space for physical books. However, there are books I want to read that I can’t get on Kindle Unlimited, Libby, or...

How to Use Libby to Read Ebooks for Free

You see Libby get referenced a lot in the online book world, but not everyone knows what it is. I will fully admit it took me an embarrassingly long time to actually figure out how you use it. So, I thought I’d explain it. Libby is a free online book borrowing service...

My Top Ten Books of 2022 So Far

Since we're now halfway through 2022, I thought I'd go through my reading log and pick my top ten for the year so far. I count series as one book if I read them all back to back, so this list includes seven standalones and three series.10. Sacrificed to the Fae King...
